Human life begins at conception. All humans have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as is declared in the Declaration of Independence. The Declaration says this right has been given to all human beings by their Creator, and for which governments are created to protect.

This is the one amendment that makes all the others possible, without the ironclad guarantee of an unlimited right to keep and bears arms, We the People would surrender our rights and liberties in a final betrayal of our children and our posterity.

Therefore, my support of the Second Amendment will never waiver.  Our founding fathers knew the vital importance of man’s inherent right to defense of self, family, and property.  Sadly, that natural and constitutionally protected right has been infringed by both federal overreach and Oklahoma state law.  I will work to restore Oklahomans’ unalienable right to self -defense and the right to keep and bear arms.  I will not add to the regulation thereof.

While an education is guaranteed in the Oklahoma State Constitution a one-size-fits-all government is not the solution.  I will stand for college and career ready standards by Oklahomans for Oklahomans. More of the money allocated for education needs to be going directly into classrooms. And we need to allow parents to take on their rightful roles as head of the family unit to decide what form of education is best for their children and family as a whole.

Our founding fathers understood clearly that owning private property is one of the foundations our society and is in fact, a basic tenet of freedom itself. Thus, through the common law, state law, and the Constitution worked to protect our property rights—the rights of people to freely acquire, use, and dispose of property. With modern government these rights have been seriously compromised.  I will work diligently to reverse that trend and protect the property rights of the people of my district and the state  of Oklahoma.

As a husband, father and small business owner, I know firsthand the importance of living within our means.  I will work diligently to shrink government to a size that both meets the current promises it has made and does not place increasing burdens on the people of Oklahoma.  We have wonderful people and resources to help us meet this challenge.  We all know that personal responsibility and fiscal responsibility go hand in hand.  Together we can shrink government and set the people free to grow and prosper at the same time.

We are a nation of ‘immigrants’ with a rich diverse history and heritage.  We believe in the rule of law.  Rewarding those who break the law will only end up hurting everyone.  Amnesty did not work when tried in the past.  Clearly we need compassionate immigration reform, but it must begin with securing our borders and balancing our budget.  Immigration is not a federal issue.  It is a state issue.  Oklahomans must actually deal with the problems of those here illegally and continuing to come.  Many of these problems will resolve themselves as welfare is eliminated and funds dry up for social services.  We must reverse the incentives for coming here, and yet at the same time be “good Samaritans” to some that are here.   I will work to minimize any additional taxpayer burden while protecting property rights of our citizens and securing our borders at the same time.

The problems did not happen overnight and will not be solved overnight; but it is important that we are headed in the right direction.  Those in the Obama administration exacerbating the problem by encouraging parents and children to come here illegally should be identified and punished to the full extent of the law.
